  Energy Analysis 

As of October 2008, all home construction must follow the Michigan Uniform Energy Code. (Refer to the prescriptive table shown below.) These insulation packages have increased the cost of home construction. In this economy builders and home owners want to build energy efficient and affordably. These r-values have added substantial cost to all home construction projects.

Mark Phillips Residential Designs LLC, has been offering energy analysis to customers since November of 2008.  I am certified to use REScheck to provide  this service to builders and home owners alike.  The REScheck program allows me to analyze your home using a systems approach.  

Simply provide me a set of plans, and I perform the energy calculation based on your criteria. I take into account your windows and doors, the volume of walls, roof structure and your mechanical system.   I can also offer advice on how to meet your goals.

In most cases you can build your home with 2x4 construction and R38 ceiling insulation and still maintain energy efficiency which is documented by Rescheck. This approach can save you thousands of dollars on your building project.

Once your home meets the Michigan Uniform Energy Code, you will receive a Compliance Certificate. Your certificate outlines the criteria used when performing your energy calculation and a checklist for you and the building inspector to reference.
